Fourth Lecture on
A New Order of Knowledge
Notes on playback of fourth (last) lecture in MBM’s series on this subject the season 1949-50. The first three in the series are not available at this time. The first lecture was on the physical side of the earth and the spheres around it and of which it is the physical core; the second, dealt with “the wedge of psychology”; the third with the seven planes around the earth and their subdivisions, and the linkage of MBM’s work with the seventh plane. The impetus in the present age toward integration and wholeness. In this new age the barriers are coming down wherever you look, in all departments of life. The fruits of analysis can now be woven into the integration. The barriers between earth and other planes are falling away.
Communication between planes. What is meant by communication. A working definition: It is intelligible messages communicated from other planes to this plane. It is nothing new. Communication between a physical world and other worlds is as old as humanity upon the earth. It appears under many names. The American Indians sought rapport with the Great Spirit.
Ancestor worship Practiced in the East; not only in Japan and other Asiatic countries. It is regard for dominant members of the clan who have left the flesh, and whose goodwill and care is still exercised over people in the earth; and guidance is still being given to those in earth.
Oracles A famous one connected with the Oak of Dodona. The Pythoness of Greece. Witches, — an unhappy translation. Sorcerers: those who could receive communication from another plane. These things are facts; it is idle to doubt it; idle, because any serious inquiry will assure you of it.
Two types, or ways, of communication. One is through mediums. They serve as an instrument, like a transformer, who transmits what is heard or perceived, or otherwise sensed.
There is also the broad classification of the sensitives. Through their own development as beings they gradually develop sensitivities that give them the first relationship to other planes.
There are four classifications of mediumship:
First, the one whose extended faculties are developed through the power of clairvoyance, clairaudience, psychometry, or other sensitive responses to what is about them. Such a medium can bring veridical messages.
2) Trance mediumship. A kind of sleep state, light or deep.
3) Voice mediumship; including the “direct voice”, with or
without the trumpet.
4) The type which brings about materializations.
Controls (intermediaries for those on their side)
Laboratory workers Especially for materialization or voice. The machinery does not remain. It is built up to a large extent by what can be drawn from the medium.
The Hebraic Scriptures are full of incidents of communication. Elijah is said to have communicated with the Kabbalists. (See Maurice Elliott’s book “Spiritualism in the Old Testament”.)
The sensitive is in quite another class. He has received the message, or established the relationship in his own right. Many gradations, up to the full receptivity of all those who have been the Leaders in the world. The knowledge which guides humanity must come from higher planes.
Moses was a sensitive. He heard and spoke in his own right, and the receiver of the message. So, too, the Zoroasters in ancient Persia. They built up their teaching to the early peoples in that part of the world on that which they received from another plane.
Gautama, who became the Buddha of the East. As you think about that Illumination under the Bo-tree, you will know that that is the time when the faculties which he was developing came to their peak, and there was opened to him the communication from beyond. He went back often. A radio had been set up between him and those who were guiding.
Socrates spoke of his daemon. That was Socrates’ guide. Everyone who has developed in the direction of larger understanding will sooner or later have helpers assigned to them from higher space. Because the whole drama of the earth and the forty-nine zones is for the purpose of the evolution of humanity; and wherever anyone is ready, help will be given. The help will correspond to the need and the capacity of the person who is developing.
Communication was part of the role of the priests in Mesopotamia. No great civilization would have been possible without it.
The condition of affairs in the state of New York. Violation of the criminal code. Our laws are leftover from earlier days. (Here MBM must have been referring to the laws against mediums as “fortune tellers.”)
Old Testament Ezekiel begins by speaking of communication. (Instances also with) Elijah and Elisha. They are called prophets, a euphemistic way the old idea of mediums is translated. Their capacity to prophesy is not in their own right but by virtue of communication of someone else who has a different perspective. Pilots watch traffic from a plane, and report. We can know if we care to. The Schools of the Prophets among the Hebraic people were to develop the sensitivities of the followers of the main prophets, so that they could carry on this custom.
Mohammed also had his communication.
And when it comes to the leadership of Jesus we know, over and over, through the incidents recorded, of the almost continual communication with those who were guiding him. Wouldn’t you like to know who they were? Jehovah, who led the old Hebraic people, is not a god, but was the guide of that old people. And, in the custom that is still prevalent among us, that which is most important to us is deified; and we project upon it, upon such a person, the ideas and the concepts that spell our sense of godhood.
So there have been guides; there have been sensitives; and they have, through the ages, given out important messages at critical times. How do you suppose Khu-fu built that Pyramid? A Voice directed him.
We are coming into a new age — are still on the frontiers of it. But the indications are marked and unmistakable. The guiding of humanity in this period is planned from the Heights.
When the time came to energize again — and this time in a large way — the rapport between this plane and higher planes, it was one of the supreme Discipleship who undertook that energizing. He is one who tried out the powers of communication with Helena Blavatsky in the breaking down, in the Western world of the limited seeing, the fixations, in Judaism and Christianity. He is Moriah, and he has hundreds of helpers. Some came down into earth. They are stimulating this impetus toward communication. Because here, too, not only between races and nations and religions, etc. are to be broken down the barriers.
(The advance) has started in the West, for the West is to undertake the leadership. All that is developing in mediumship is under the direct guidance of Moriah, through his hundreds of helpers. Many of them have, for long periods of time, been preparing for this.
So in this new age the communication will not be for the few, for the Saul who seeks help in a crisis, but for everyone who will…..to learn and know, until the communication is as normal and natural as is today the use of the telephone.
There is a danger in this — a snare to the unenlightened. A warning about mediums. There is in the world of mediumship — or claims of mediumship, especially in the early days, a large number of charlatans. But that does not cancel the genuine.
Given a good medium, what can one expect? Here, too, there is much to learn. Communication between the planes is not necessarily profound, nor containing a great revelation, any more than it is over the telephone. What do you think they know? The planes beyond, with the exception of a relatively small number of leaders, are entirely composed of humanity that has not evolved. They are sometimes called “older brothers”, “older souls”, etc. And there are grades of life. They are not suddenly made wise. They have just taken off a heavy garment, but are no wiser than they were. If they are simple they will tell you simple things.
The main thing in communication is that communication is possible. On the basis of your understanding or inquiry. Do you think you can be told about God in five minutes? Modesty of mind, cleanness of approach, are necessary. What have you asked of Larger Planes? Whom have you reached out to? If you haven’t, you haven’t. In communication you grow — in understanding, in reach; and you come to appreciate that, over this, divine profundities as well as sheer play or nonsense can be sent.
You will understand that the difficulties are tremendous. Battling with etheric conditions through the earth envelope that is close to us — loaded with all kinds of thoughts, fragments of history that are being tossed about, right and left. Those have to be cleared away. Like a farmer with his soil. Before seeding the soil for those plants it must be prepared. Weeds spring up, or those conditions, emotions, attitudes, – all those things are realities, conditions in the etheric world.
These are being worked out slowly. Scientists in etheric regions are working to overcome these difficulties. At present, the most they can do is to bring the right conditions into the room where the communication is to take place. Thoughts, emotions, are etheric wave frequencies, and they can be very destructive. They can sway (?) a thought.
What occurs with the sensitive? The sensitive who would make a rapport has to accommodate himself to that same law.
In the first planes there are still the orthodoxies. It is not till the higher divisions of the third plane that the ideologies of the personal self are gradually discarded.
There are pitfalls, but the impetus that has been sent out is a tremendous one. There are many points at which we have to be cautious, – but also many on which we, in the beginning of this age, must get a wide perspective. The physical plane is no longer isolated. For the few, it has never been a place of isolation, but for the many, it is.
Now these barriers are to fall down. And mediumship is the most effective way of the initial steps. If it is proved that communication is possible, then a large part of what you have heard and learned in classes of all kinds, religions, falls by the wayside. No more sleeping until the last trumpet sounds. But there is this: that if you believe that you are going to sleep until the last trumpet sounds you may so bog yourself with that idea that when you are out of the body you are as if under an anesthetic.
If you take your physical body away you have taken away the opportunity to function in earth. But if you have no idea about it being a crime, nothing happens. We have to learn in this age to look at life forth-rightly. You may greatly regret being in another plane if you haven’t finished what you do in this plane. If you have, you are entitled to go. The body does not belong to the state.
The link that is to be forged: the link of other planes with the physical. The leadership is from the highest plane, and the being who is known as the Christ is the Leader of the work in aiding the evolution of humanity.
There is talk, again and again of the second coming of the Christ. You can yourselves foresee, from the little pieces already given you, the Christ being will not come again into earth. It won’t be necessary. Because, in the links that are being now forged in the development of the work of great engineers in the other planes, there will be possible the communication from the etheric plane to the earth — unmistakable and marked.
It may occur in a relatively near time, when certain preliminaries have been accomplished. Then it will be possible, by the use of etheric forces; by television, which is a development carried far in the higher planes, now being brought close to earth; and it will be by this means that the evidence of the leadership of this Being will become known to earth – simply, – without religion, – as a fact.
That is the inheritance into which we are coming — part of the fruit of the synthesis and power of the long, detailed analysis. These things, gathered together, will presently make extraordinary relationships possible. It is for you to do your part in that preparation — in building in your minds the understanding of these things — by taking away the ignorance, the prejudice, so that slowly but surely — and perhaps rapidly, these things can be prepared in earth. And that can help to hasten this period.
It can’t be before certain conditions are fulfilled. From that time on, the linking of the earth as the core with all the envelopes of the earth will become evident, and we will be able to see the direction in which we are moving — in a sense quite literally. For it will be possible, from above down, to extend such communication.
Theme: the building of a vantage ground for a new order of knowledge. Not on the earth. Not in man’s knowledge, but from far above down. This is the goodly thing that should hearten us all. When we have the perspective it will cancel the immediate personal pressures of the phenomenal world, and we will see, instead, the beginnings of the maturing of our System. And linking with that above, not in sentiment or faith but in knowledge, understanding, activity.

Question: What are the conditions to be cleared away? MBM: Perhaps through pain, or the discovery that the material world is not the whole measure of things, folk begin to be restive and begin to look otherwise. The orthodox will be the last ones to see it; also the intellectuals. But pain levels people.
Freedom, re: Freedom as obedience to law. Freedom and independence of law are not synonymous. In any field of research the laws of that particular field become gradually known. As those laws are followed, there is ever greater freedom to express. As with architecture. The same thing is true of man’s mind and spirit. The reason your minds are not functioning more freely than they are is that you are not making use of those laws. If you did, they would work better than they do. In obedience to law is the greatest possible freedom. Not paradoxically. The things that govern the evolution of life, those are laws.
Re new knowledge What you believed before must be put aside. You have intelligence and you can discover that there is a kind of logic in what you are told. You can’t go otherwise than through your teacher. Therefore the respect for your teacher is of great importance. But one of the things I am putting into this school is that, if certain laws are obeyed, no one remains at the point of ignorance, but they proceed upward and discover that some of the things they are learning are facts.
You do take the word of the teacher, whom you respect mentally and in terms of integrity. When you have done that, don’t be halted along the way. Then you have the opportunity to know for yourself. If the Teacher did not know in advance he would be of no use as a teacher.
Question: How is it possible to obtain the memory of long ago? MBM: The best way is to work with the subconscious; pre-Tutoring and Tutoring. Deposits of memories have been accumulated, but over them the deposits of a later day. As with leaves in the woods. Therefore working through the layers is the logical way. But there is no particular object, in recovering the memory, to know you were in such and such a country. The big thing is opening the channels, so that the foliage of the past comes up. Otherwise it is blocked off. The vitality you gained then should be regained.
Always the three factors are at work: inheritance, heritage and environment. For most people, heritage wins least. Heritage is the dynamic of your own life of the past. That gets lost in the shuffle, in the burden (?) with the things of the present life which environment and family say you must, or must not, do. Heritage gets very little , or it is distorted; nothing comes through clean. I don’t see how it could.

MBM Conference on Training
Notes on review of MBM’s second conference at Whiting Arches in the summer of 1950, on Training, as discussed in the Monday Group October 23, 1950.

The focus in this Conference, as in the first, is on integration: A revaluation of what the monad is, and its relationship to the Larger.
The knowledges necessary:
Knowledge of the evolution of the monad. Knowledge of what the self is.
The application of the two categories of knowledge — the learning and the doing.
The contribution of Freud as the tool in coming to know the areas of the subconscious, and the opening up for investigation of the problems, biases, etc. which halt growth.
Knowledge of adjacent planes; metaphysical geography; relation of earth to other planes; and continuing life from earth planes to other planes, giving reality to the concept of Training.
The lack of labels (hooking-in points) to interest the multitude. There is no appeal here (at the School) on the partial; it is away from the fragmentary emphasis, making it more difficult to popularize, and yet giving a much firmer foundation.
Use of the mind and development of the (eight) seedlets.
The separation and cleaning of the faculties and the training of the eight.
The role of the I principle.
The linkage of the little self and the Great Self; this as an integration under one of the headings.
Training: a systematic, progressive method for accelerating the evolution; then proceeding to several kinds of knowledge. Training consists in coming to these different kinds of knowledge — of evolution of what the self is.
Doing and building is doing and building in relation to something outside the self, some goal. Growth of the self taken care of by learning.
Brotherhood and building have to do with relations with something beyond the self.
Training is backed up by brotherhood and building. The scaffold is absorbed, the learning.
We must find the ways of turning out on our level. Otherwise we are only subscribing to the concept of Training intellectually, but not substantively.
The search for truth cannot be undertaken without changes in the self.
Truth is not knowable in the human state.
What we conceive the role of this Group to be. Answer in the Penetralia on the magnetic force of the Good.
A sacrifice won’t be so if you are polarized toward growth. They will be heavy if polarized to the earth.

This Conference was titled
How Shall We Live in Today’s World?
Over-all Thesis:
In order to live intelligently in any situation it is essential to know the entire range of factors covering it.
To live intelligently in the world today it is essential to know more than the material or psychological factors, now openly at war with one another.
Whole-seeing is the new challenges:
Whole-seeing of man.
Whole-seeing of the earth
Whole-seeing of the entire System, of which the earth is the physical core.
This new whole-seeing brings in many new factors, which must be studied and understood. Above all, there must be the mind’s search into what is meant by spirit and spiritual.
The Conferences have put before the Group attending and sharing, the following factors, which must be assimilated into understanding in order to live intelligently in to-day’s world:
1) The earth is not an accident; nor is anyone in the room here in earth accidentally.
2) The earth is the material core of a system of planes, and is directly related to them. The time has come for the practical and intelligent amalgamation of the earth and its humanity into the System as a whole.
3) The earth and its humanity are both in a tremendous process of evolution. Tho friction of ideas and entrenched ideologies is an inherent part of the process. It prevents fixations and leads toward more evolved solutions. The stimulus of the difficulty, suffering and privation is necessary, until men catch the vision of the whole System and find delight in building within the Pattern.
4) Points of reference in How We Shall Live in Today’s World must therefore be vertical, correcting the past horizontal points used for guidance and measurement.
5) In the gigantic evolution within our System it can be seen that the drama in earth will include the rise and fall of nations and races. This is one manifestation of the Principle of Rhythm.
At this critical period in earth this Principle is markedly in evidence. But, rather than indicating a regression of humanity it marks the progress of the whole through the beginning of a new wave of oncoming evolution.
6) Those who are drawn to inquire how we shall live in today’s world must re-examine a central factor: What is Spirit? What is Spiritual? What actually is the Larger Goal toward which the great evolution is tending?
The mind will quickly perceive that the old familiar concepts of spirit are not adequate to the tension exerted by whole-seeing. The old ideas of kindness, charity, goodness, are not commensurate for the new Age into which we are moving.
There must emerge a wholly fresh vision of this dynamic question. The emerging answer must be great enough to generate, and bind together, and control the evolution of man, – of the Planet. . . . of all the planes of life beyond the earth.
If there is a Guiding Intelligence it must involve immeasurably more than is commonly conceived, and be Itself the dynamo of Spirit. Here man’s mind must do new searching.
7) In this search, each one must examine himself, asking two questions: a) What do I really want of life? What motivations are stirring in my deeps? b) What am I doing to achieve this desire?
Since each human being is both tool and operator of the tool, clear functioning demands some degree of conscious grasp of the self, its superficial vagaries, and its deep motivation.
8) There follows the discovery that, in the deeps of the self (not necessarily known to the personality) is the fervent awareness and desire toward the vast evolution of both self and earth. It is this deep knowing that is touched in those experiences (whether called mystical or any other name) which rock the complacent personal self from its material smugness and thus demonstrate the actuality of another kind of knowing.
9) This entrance into a “New Age”, whether called the Air Age, the Atomic, or the Aquarian Age, is a propitious time — often called climate — to the new seeing of the self, the earth, and the entire System.
That this climate is mental and intelligent, as compared to the simple, uncritical acceptance of the past, is demonstrated by a study of the parallel columns posted for this comparative study. This is not fiction but an operative fact, bringing changes into all phases of life, beginning with all forms of physical investigation, and leading, through education, the arts, the sports, into religions, and gradually attaching those who are ready to respond on still profounder fields, such as those presented at these Conferences.
The earth is already some 150 years within the field of this changing climate. It will advance through approximately two millennia, and then recede as another climate begins to dominate. The higher evolution of the earth demands a change of season, even as does all else that lives and evolves. Winter, spring, summer, fall is the rhythm through which plants, animals and humans profit year after year. On a vaster scale, so is the evolution of man and the earth within the System.

November 10, 1949 – Lecture I
The Time-clock of our earth.
A survey from Heaven.
The Leaven of the Pattern.
Practical lectures of immediate value — Our prospective too short if we think of practical as to physical man. Practical can radiate to that which is not flesh.
Two steps:
- To take you out of old fixations of thought.
- Now seen in a larger perspective.
What psychology has stated as a fact is also applied to the planet.
We must tear ourselves free — Our daily life is in the routine of yesterday’s thoughts. We are apt to be hurt and discouraged because our sight is so short.
We are being taken to immensities — loose from the fixations of our ancestors which have such a hold on us.
A part is never the measure of the whole. Nothing must be considered separately but part of a whole.
Use imagination for an adventure into the spaces. Let us get up and out further and look down on earth. It is moving 18.5 miles per second.
Let’s get a perspective – loosen our fixations. There is our sun, a big star. It travels 400 miles per second – faster than the earth.
Won’t you have to change your concept of time?
Get out further. We come to the end of our star city, our nebulae. There are more stars – another universe. Our sun looks small and we can’t see the earth. We are out on the periphery and it takes 250 million years to move once. We can’t see the earth any more. We are disturbed at the vastness.
Now moving back – let’s see what we can appreciate. Every sun system has an earth. It is when human evolution takes place.
Our earth concerns us very much. What’s occurring. Let us learn what an earth is. It is a special planet in the sun system and conditioned to early human life. It goes through billions of years without life. Goes through milleniums to a state where its work is accomplished.
Frequently with cataclysms it settled into a permanent state so young souls and teachers could come down and live on it — making his way – progressing as described geologically, historically.
Now we have man a thinking being.
All – a prelude to an unfinished chapter. Souls contribute to earth as leaves to a tree – the two are dual.
The Builders watch! They are working over humanity — who give us opportunities when they come for development. Where there is a high stage of development there is a danger of FIXATION.
What is considered as good — becomes fixed.
Folk are pressed and disturbed. Engaged in personal lives – blotting out the challenge of the hour. Changes have begun.
Time has to do with a certain maturing. That hour has come. It requires the same two steps.
- Tearing loose from all fixations of past.No progress where there is fixation.
- Now see in a larger perspective.
Cataclysms of the hour have torn us loose. We can see the role of rebellions, insurrections, Wars I & II, seen from space are agencies to loosen fixation as a psychologist must tear loose the patient from fixations – so in large organism of the earth – begin to see what has taken place. Near we see the individual agonies. Away we see the wide perspective. The tragedies shrink.
Is this callous? No. It is the first step in understanding.
We need to know more about what is to be so that we can go with it not counter to it.
Are we only to build up compassion? Are we not to build up understanding?
Evidences of constructive things that have occurred since that past crisis. (Meaning past wars and recent troubles?)
Problems of government on earth and dangers – or are they? – of the battle between ideologies in earth. Conflict of ideologies is not a disaster but a challenge.
And ideal? or something good which produced a FIXATION.
Our democracy suffered from outer Fixation and is now beginning to come out of it.
Frictional operation of each on the other will challenge and bring us out of the smugness which is dis-ease.
The season is being used by the Builders. The souls are to work out the dilemma.
Missing ingredient — will be spoken of next 3 lectures.
On our earth there is a crisis. There have always been a few who have known and worked with a larger pattern. Now there are many.
We are coming to a new understanding on various levels. So now many who are ready to have the philosophical views of life. Some earths are more advanced — others are just beginning.
The Builders are not despondent. We have learned that big gains have their price. What it costs is not the main factor. It is only a part of the whole.
Our duty is to think more boldly — to divorce from little things that don’t count.
The next order of knowledge is only to be had by a vantage ground away from the earth.
We can see the beginning of what is taking place — I see great changes.
The earth is to be one organization with one government. Nationalism is as rampant as it was.
Not to think of our country first — regardless —
The race is gradually being ignored.
From viewpoint of builders — no fear or dismay — only watchfulness where there is readiness for guidance.
We know we must meet responsibility differently.
- Break up old fixation.
- Build forward to new vantage ground.Out is space. Find truth. The facts are larger than physical facts and explain them.
Let this be the beginning of a corner stone.
Life is forward, not a repetition which it is progressing.
Lecture II November 17, 1949
The larger gives answer to the small.
“All men naturally desire to know” — axiom of Aristotle.
Events on the earth are a local affair — as viewed from space.
Metaphysics? Where is it? Of what does it consist? We are too geocentric in our thought.
Question of hell and heaven will be answered in metaphysics.
Our cornel with many layers of non-physical atmosphere around us. We are at the bottom of a sea of ethers. As if we are at the bottom of the sea.
Around the earth inter-mingling with our atmosphere is ether. Conveys the vibration that our vision – our heart – we and earth are a magnetic unit. Around the earth is a magnetic field. Into this etheric envelope is discharged our emotional overflow. The etheric belt around the earth is filled with them. They have been disengaged from the one who started them.
Beyond infra-red, ultra violet, are great areas.
Beyond stratosphere begins lowest.belt of the etheric envelopes of our earth.
1st a belt of darkness. It has no light in it. Is the region called hell. Hell means held — means imprisoned.
“Gain from earth those things which are permanent” — Jesus.
The dark belt is not for those who are searching but for those who have become too earthy –
There is no punishment except our consciousness of our stupidity and mistakes. This belt is 15 to 20 miles wide in the belt. It has seven zones. 7 permeates everywhere.
Above dark belt is another sphere or belt — much belongs to earth. Animals go to this plane.
Everything has an etheric counterpart which is ? real body – only physical body and gradation of etheric body. A.gigantic museum – record of life on earth. People fond of animals often go there where there are forests.
We have measured the reality of all things by the physical which is only the cornel. This sphere has 7 zones.
Third sphere concerns us more — Where virtually all folk move when they leave earth. Paul was lifted to this plane when he said he was lifted to the 3rd heaven — Plane of learning, resting — called Summerland by some literature. Release from physical life.
Folk who have lived good lives go there.
One law:— no one rises higher than the power over the pull of gravity. The more gravity pull is loosened the more you move up and outward.
Look up at sky – Say: “I’m looking with my physical eyes and nothing else.”
Above are schools, gardens and activity in the ether. Ether can be solidified in its own octaves.
No one will tell you what to do. It is in you. No one will force you. It is your desire.
To arouse that desire and send it on and on is progress.
Two to three hundred years exhausts one stage.
The measure is how high or outward you can ascend.
4th plane. World more radiant – more vital — field of adventure.
The planes extend up. There are 49 zones. In the highest plane is the center of our earth and the government.
Everything has not been prepared ahead of time and follows a pattern.
Everything is not known. On all planes still building.
Earth is core in center — the smallest part of the whole.
Three types of teaching:
- Outer
- Allegorical, as three wise men – gifts of myrrh — bitterness
(which makes us learn) frankincense honor, devotion; gold – spirit (you bring this to your life if you want Christ stature.)
- Metaphysics as we are learning in these lectures.
Lecture III December 1, 1949 – First Warm Days
Harking back to the 13th century there was Friar Roger Bacon, Leonardo de Vinci. There was Copernicus, Luther, Galileo, Columbus. The 17th century – a century of genius. – Kant and Newton.
New approach to life on the increase.
We are in summer now, with Pasteur, etc. follow-through in engineering, etc.
Facts replaced faiths – Beginnings of a new climate – a new season.
Mind inquiry into facts — in everything today. Wherever you turn intelligence has been working.
Our lives are lived in a different key than our grandparents knew.
Minds have become open to inquiry. The flat surface of an old dictate take on height, breadth and depth.

Is there purpose or accident?
God’s will not in the things that men can change.
Placing of solar system in our gravity pocket not by chance. For the benefit of an evolving humanity.
We have many movements giving us seasons – rotating of earth, day and night. — telling of earth season. — also a pattern of 12 climates
25,000 years – a belt of influences inside of which our universe was placed providing changes.
We cannot omit any of the progressive steps of the 4 seasons.
In the great year of 12 seasons, a similar progression – each contribute to the whole.
Time of transition from one to the other is a critical time. All go through adjustments to make the changes.
Certain crucial changes as are taking place now are very trying. No accident. All is intentional. But we, like the folk milling in the area near, have worked locally and have not asked the intelligent questions.
We need to see the whole – to put on the glasses and see all. The bulk of humanity is not yet conscious outside of itself. Whole seeing is necessary.
What is humanity? You may not know what it is. You may not have inquired. But these things are knowable.
Humanity, a name for souls in earth.
A long past and a long future. Growing by experience. In the new season we are being shocked into thinking.
Exercising our minds. We have capacity for enormous progressive unfoldment and a variety of climates. Everyone in earth is being roused to a new kind of grasp on life. Stung into a new kind of consciousness.
This new season contrived by the builders.
Are being watched. Everything being done to speed it up. We are not all one age. Like trees in the forest. But according to where we are we are stimulated into thinking.
The engineer with new types of tools, etc.
Our children have learned to revere facts. The mind at work. Dawn of a new kind of living. Some capable of going further – to the vastness of the sky. To compute distances by astronomy, etc.
We are humanity on a planet – part of one galaxy. We think complexly. We move from simple to the complex. This is a growth of our minds under the beneficence of this new age.
Painting – part of the great wheel of the 12 new seasons. Cone shaped object green and blue, point is at the earth. It is the apex of the influences pressing upon our earth.
There are the old visions – But also the beginning of the new climate. If you were manager and wanted fruits of the earth scattered far and wide how would you manage it?
If you had the grasp of the whole and not a piece called a nation. But if you were above – for a good toward all, what would you do?
Great Beings do nothing directly. They can only use what is there. They use the farmer, etc.
Restless capacity burst out at many seams – still breaking out – because the ferment has not yet been accomplished.
There was Mussolini and Hitler. Now Stalin and Kremlin – But note that there is also France, England, U.S. and other countries. What is taking place? Can you see – There are these wars. Gigantic machines for spreading the first fruits for a new season. All lives have been changed.
We have lost the appreciation of how changes can be an open door.
Where the armies have gone has made changes.
How does it look to the Builders? Think about time and space.
Suppose we realize that we are souls evolving. There is not death. We have come to earth for a bit of experience.
The Builders have not continued the wars but they have used them.
All men are souls in evolution, whether in India, U.S., Central Africa, etc.
Wrong is the literalization of a symbolic teaching.
We have a great privilege, one which we have sought before we came into the flesh and have now forgotten. We are here temporarily. In a university with many of schools upon it. Many races are the schools. Many the garments that are temporarily worn.
This University is going through one of the mammoth transitions.
Instead of becoming doubtful and fearful. Instead we can see that this is a potent dark age out of which will be brought to.light – the light of understanding.
We are more than a physical world.
Coming events cast their shadows before. 2,000 years climate of heart and faith.
Not repudiating but moving toward an understanding…not an understanding of the physical world but other things that belong to other phases of our life.
After we have learned that all men are brothers. Then will come a period lien in summer.
We may not see it but we lay the stones for that which is to be.
The wheel turns we begin the good work of the future.
Glorious is the future of this planet, etc. from the “Prayer-Hymn” Aquarian Age. Sign of the Water Bearer….. who powers the water of understanding in humanity.

Lecture IV December 6, 1949
In the long existence of the earth there has never been a period packed with potential as the age we are just entering. Potential will be released by the direction we take. Potential is in man himself.
There is no place to hide. What we do to release the potential determines our future.
Taboos of the past have been overcome. The substance of the earth became knowable. Little by little the objective world was opened by MIND. Gradually shaping it to his will.
There is a sequence which is unfolding. The second step we will discuss now. When we discuss environment the pendulum swings back to the self.
A searchlight – for a time flooded the material world. It moves on to another span and now affects man.
1661 Preliminary to birth of Industrial Revolulion. Discoverer of loom was put to death. But the change was upon us and lives began to be changed. This is in the spiritual plan for the earth. The handicap is that we experience these things – read them in history and do not become properly conscious of them.
Now came other compa ts. Trouble makes man investigate.
Not so many centuries ago insane were put in chains.
Little by little the veils were lifted and the human becomes better understood.
Mind by inquiring opened to the idea of the subconscious. All schools of psychology opened by investigation. So the human being began to have new value.
Questions of labor arose. Challenge of the mind. We can see what occurred. Pressure at this point and that. Relationship of woman to man and to this world. Was a time when females were limited. Then the first workers – resisting – protesting – Now we take it all for granted. Pioneers laid the ground for a new relationship for the female. Then came the first world war and women were gradually drafted. They took the positions of all kinds. World War II – this position was extended and strengthened. The ability of women has been admitted. See then in perspective of a new age. Putting on the human being the light of observation.

Woman is a human being. Incidentally a female.
Perplexity of the male as this goes on.
When woman rises – men and women will be able to travel together. Remember allegory.
We are absorbed in our own affairs. Not seeing – not hearing.
Again where pain is the challenge. One of the needs today is in regard to our recalcitrant people. Our prisons have been a confession of our lack of understanding of human nature. Thomas Mott Osborn started an investigation. Went through experience of prisoners. What he learned included solitary – started a reform in the treatment of a recalcitrant.
We are not all born equal. Men and women are souls somewhere along in their evolution.
In a school we do not treat various graders all alike. Though bodies are old, can be very young. Can easily be turned on the road which leads to crime.
Need of human folk everywhere for excitement, adventure, for danger, many criminals are looking for adventure. Crime has its excitement. Think of the drab lives of several million in our city. There are at least 2 million who need excitement and have no way to find it in constructive ways.
All life is a series of cause and effect. When the trauma was discovered – the psychic injury – was started it was seen as a series of cause and effects. Our fears and hopes, etc. are conditioned in a long series going back to childhood and we at the top – not knowing the cause.
Prison life has changed but it has only begun. The human in order to be changed – must give his consent and experience that change.
You are the operator and that which is being operated upon. Biases, beliefs, opinions – we protect from change rather than offer to the chemical. Here is where the potential is resting.
As we come to the second field, the SELF – see MIND at work upon it. We realize that the future is in our hands. The great forces that operate on the earth and are operated by Great Beings can turn the radiation upon us.
Where does it count most. Are bridges and telescopes the end? The burden of responsibility rests on the choice of direction which releases the potential in us. The attitude towards children has changed. Now the child is given a chance to speak – to show initiative – to draw out the potential of the child.
The child training must be balanced between rights of child and rights of the parents. We are not ready to give the answers.
Another field – race – the barriers between races. All in this room have been in other races than we are now. But a body and a race are like garments put on for a time for experience in earth. There is no difference spiritually. But in this the radiation has not yet been successful. But a step of importance has been taken in India. The light has not penetrated very far. But things will move. But changes are coming.
We are heartened here when we see what Yale and Harvard have done about negro leaders. What do you know of races? A race is a kind of entity which has sharplycharacteristics, barriers, prejudices. Temperamental characteristics.
Why do the Irish have wimsy – wit – aggressiveness?
Souls with such qualities gravitate toward the, until they have reached a stage where they go contrary to have a new experience.
Turn your mind on these things. You’ll see through the garment of a race and see a soul that is struggling in it.
What people see is only the garment. The Judgement of externals.
Just a mind penetrated through the heavens to stars aided by powerful lenses – microscopes to small life. So we must push past the barriers of the form to the life. We are as yet to most people a precious indefinable something on a long road. We can pass into the field of art and see changes.
Field of the unconscious. Psychology has been the psychology of the abnormal, the hurt, the neurotic and great help has been given. Dentists have been told that disease of the gums are psychosomatic. Who knows how much else?
What about those of us who are relatively normal? Again the light is turned on and we press further into this reason. We discover things that are extraordinary. Psychology of the healthy one.
MBM interested in humans as monads evolving.
If a thing is – it can be found. It depends upon our skill to find a means to locate it. If man has a soul – this thing should be knowable. Should not just be posited.
Faith – Hope – Charity to Knowledge – Understanding – Brotherhood. If we are more than flesh – that must be knowable.
In the deeps of everyone’s being is evidence of this reality. Back of the subconscious is another area. In this area is found the power – the dynamic of the soul.
The time has come when the knowledge of the self can penetrate so faith can become knowledge.
“A Wedge Into the Future.” A wedge is to open up. What we have seen as taking place in this centuries are a wedge into the new age. We’ve only begun. It is not the end. It is the entrance. Fearless inquiry. Testing. Repetition. Drawing conclusions. This is the wedge. But what direction will we give it? What are you doing? Just learning here and there? Or are you considering seriously what the drama is about? Are you ready to ask for the scenario? Do you want to play a part? Are you getting through with muddling? Radiations stimulate but unless we give it purpose the direction will be lost.
This cycle can bring tremendous things. We have the tools but will we seek the producer – the scenario? That is our question.
In the silent moments when we are deeply serious do we not feel a responsibility. So now as this season widens the overlapping of old and new – what is going to be your directional movement?
Again the beam of light will swing up another octave. The attempt at whole-seeing imperative today. Think of this radiation of mental activity.
